UPDATE # 16
November 20, 2024
- On November 19, 2024 a "Presidents Meeting" was held for all Local Presidents (or alternate) involved in negotiations for a new Provincial Collective Agreement.
- The participants in the meeting unanimously approved the following motion: To authorize UNA to sign Essential Service Agreements (ESA's) and apply for Formal Mediation.
- The Negotiating Committee met with the Employers today, November 20, 2024. We informed the Employers we will be applying for Formal Mediation.
- We also requested the Employers seek a greater financial mandate from their principals (the Government)
- The Negotiating Committee will provide an update when a Mediator is appointed and meeting dates are established.
Reminder:
The Labour Relations Code, which governs Collective Bargaining, requires the Labour Relations Board to approve the ESAs prior to proceeding with Formal Mediation. Formal Mediation, followed by a 14 day "cooling off" period, is a requirement under the Labour Relations Code prior to UNA having the ability to undertake a strike vote (if a resolution is not achieved during mediation).
