This workshop is designed to provide participants with an understanding of the various types of workplace abuse and that abuse in any form is unacceptable. By outlining the available tools to advocate for the prevention of workplace abuse, it will also encourage participants to take appropriate action if they are the targets of abuse and provide support to co-workers who have been the targets of workplace abuse.
This is a full-day workshop and is provincially funded for all UNA members who have not previously taken it.

This workshop gives members a basic understanding of how to interpret the Occupational Health and Safety Article in their Collective Agreement and to become familiar with Hazard Assessment forms and Site Inspection Forms. Members will also discuss and evaluate the OH&S culture of their workplace.
Attending this workshop is a requirement for members serving as a local representative on their Occupational Health and Safety Committee.

Following the successes of Wellness Day events in 2021 and 2022, United Nurses of Alberta is hosting a Wellness Day for members on February 9, 2023.
Focusing on mental health and self-care, this day-long Wellness Day event will feature speakers Meg Soper, Dr. Geoffrey Soloway, Anthony McLean, and Barb Campbell, who will share skills that can help UNA members boost their resiliency, teach relaxation and stress relieving methods, and how to cope with an ever changing workplace.
UNA President Heather Smith will bring welcoming remarks.
UNA members planning to attend are encouraged to request a Professional Development Day.
Members who are unable attend this symposium live will have the opportunity to view a recorded version following the event. More information will be available soon on how to access the recording.

Participants will develop the knowledge and skills to support members who report Professional Responsibility Concerns (PRCs) and to engage confidently and collaboratively with management representatives in order to achieve resolution.
In this workshop, Local Executives will learn the key components of a functioning Local, including strategic planning, meeting best-practices, and executive roles and responsibilities.
This workshop is designed for Local Executive members and is provincially funded for Local Execs who have not taken it previously. It is one workshop in the three-part How to Run a Local series: Administration, Finance, and Labour Relations.

This 3 hour workshop is for all UNA Members. The goal of this work shop is to review mental health literacy and how setting personal boundaries aids in developing self care strategies. Systemic and individual approaches to developing mental well being are explored. The workshop is grounded in evidenced based practices and utilizes experiential learning activities, so be ready to explore personal well being.
Provincial Funding is not available for this workshop.
