UNA responds to dissolution of AHS board, creation of Acute Care Alberta and Assisted Living Alberta

United Nurses of Alberta has contacted Alberta Health Services’ new Official Administrator Andre Tremblay asking for details about how today’s dissolution of the AHS board of directors and the creation of the Acute Care Alberta health authority will impact UNA members and ongoing negotiations for a Provincial Collective Agreement.

UNA is also asking if any staff represented by UNA who are currently employed with AHS will be transferred to any of the new health care "pillars" created by the government, including the recently announced Assisted Living Alberta health authority, and what the plans are with respect to where public health nurses fit in these new health authorities.

Tremblay is also Alberta’s Deputy Minister of Health and the interim President and CEO of AHS. With the creation of Acute Care Alberta, the government says that AHS will now become a "hospital-based service delivery provider.”

UNA will share updates with members as we receive them.
