Provincial Collective Agreement gives UNA Locals time for new member orientation

Article 5.05 (a) of the collective agreement describes the right of Locals to make a bi-weekly presentation

Members of United Nurses of Alberta are reminded that UNA’s multi-employer Provincial Collective Agreement ensure that time will be made available for Locals to hold orientation presentations for new employees.

Article 5.05 (a) of the collective agreement describes the right of Locals to make a bi-weekly presentation of up to 45 minutes to new employees about workplace rights, responsibilities and benefits as well as the structure of the Local.

Employees will suffer no loss of regular earnings as a result of attending the presentation, the agreement says. It also stipulates that attendance is not compulsory and an employer representative may be present.

The Local must provide at least 14 working days’ notice to the employer of the date, time and location for each presentation.
