UNA members encouraged to participate in AHS survey about safety engineered devices

United Nurses of Alberta encourages its members to participate in an online survey being conducted by Alberta Health Services about the use and implementation of safety engineered devices.

A safety engineered device is designed with a built in sharps injury protection mechanism such as an attached sheath covering the needle or scalpel after use or needles that retract after use.

Alberta Health Services began using safety engineered devices in 2010. AHS is looking user feedback on overall satisfaction with the functionality of safety engineered devices in use and satisfaction with the education received on the use of these devices.
