UNA members invited to spend the day with locked-out AUPE members in Calgary

UNA members from southern Alberta are invited to spend Saturday, Nov. 17, with locked-out AUPE members on the picket line at the Monterey Place seniors’ facility in Calgary.

AUPE has chartered a bus for its own members and welcomes friends, neighbours and members of other unions from Lethbridge or communities along the way to hop on and hop off at the picket line at 4288 Catalina Boulevard N.E. in Calgary.

The bus will depart the AUPE Lethbridge office at 1921 Mayor Magrath Drive at 8 a.m. on Nov. 17. All-day parking is available.

AUPE says 50 seats are available and the bus will pick up anyone along the way who wants to join the picket line – call Kim Campbell at 403-894-5922 or Michelle Szalynski at 403-634-8262 to reserve a seat and arrange a pick up location.

The bus will arrive at Monterey Place, where the labour dispute has continued since June 26, at 10:30 a.m. and depart for Lethbridge at 2:30 with an anticipated arrival time of 5 p.m.

Those who join the picket line are advised to pack snacks and wear warm clothing.

UNA members in Calgary are also invited to make their own way to the picket line on Nov. 17.
