UNA reaches tentative agreement with Venta Care Centre
After bargaining meetings on October 9 and 10, 2014, representatives of United Nurses of Alberta Local 226 have reached a tentative agreement with Edmonton's Venta Care Centre for a new collective agreement.
Improvements for UNA members in the tentative agreement include:
- Increased RRSP matching contribution from 2% to 3%,
- Employer provided $200 for annual professional association fees,
- Increased portability of seniority,
- Removal of requirement of employees to see an emergency doctor after two weeks of sick leave.
- Salary increases of 0% in the first year, 2% in the second year, 2.5% in the third year and 3% in the fourth year of the contract.
- A letter of understanding ensuring lump sum payments of $2000 for 2013, $500 for 2014 and $500 for 2015.
The four-year collective agreement will expire on August 31, 2017.
Members of UNA Local 226 will hold a ratification vote in the near future.
UNA is the union for more than 30,000 Registered Nurses, Registered Psychiatric Nurses and allied workers in Alberta.
