UNA awards scholarships to seven Nursing students

UNA President Heather Smith presents a UNA Nursing Education scholarship to Nadeane deGuzman, student at University of Alberta. Nadeane was joined by her mother Florabel deGuzman, a member of UNA Local 11 (Misericordia Community Hospital).

United Nurses of Alberta is proud to award seven scholarships to Nursing students in 2014. UNA’s Nursing Education Scholarship is awarded annually to assist Nursing students in studies in approved Nursing programs at Alberta’s post-secondary institutions.

Applicants must be related to a UNA member in good standing, complete an application form and write a short essay responding to the question "How does United Nurses of Alberta advocate for Members?"

This year’s scholarship recipients are:

Jenelle Ference, student at Grant MacEwan University, sponsored by her sister-in-law, Ashley Ference, a member of UNA Local 76 (Cold Lake Health Centre)

Samantha Keitges, student at Mount Royal University, sponsored by her mother, Ruth Keitges, a member of UNA Local 1 (Peter Lougheed Centre)

Osayomwanbo Ekunwe, student at Grant MacEwan University, sponsored by her mother Mary Ekunwe, a member of UNA Local 117 (Extendicare Eaux Clares)

Sarah Rapley, student at Grant MacEwan University, sponsored by her mother, Adele Rapley, a member of UNA Local 301 (University of Alberta Hospital)

Nadeane deGuzman, student at University of Alberta, sponsored by her mother Florabel deGuzman, a member of UNA Local 11 (Misericordia Community Hospital)

Nicole Kuzio, student at Grant MacEwan University, sponsored by her mother, Rose Kuzio, a member of UNA Local 97 (David Thompson)

Kennedy MacLowick, student at Grant MacEwan University, sponsored by her mother, Shelley MacLowick, a member of UNA Local 85 (Sturgeon Community Hospital)

Applying for the 2014 Nursing Education Scholarship
Completed applications must be received at the UNA Provincial Office delivered by postal mail or by hand no later than 4:30 pm, Oct. 15, 2014. Digital or faxed applications will not be accepted. The awards will be announced in late January or early February of 2015.
