When the doors shut at Little Bow, they'll sound a warning
Soon, the government will shut the doors at Little Bow Continuing Care Centre in Carmangay, disrupting the lives of the elderly, vulnerable residents. The move makes no sense, and it indicates a troubling lack of vision.
They call it cost-cutting. We call it short-sighted. The building is sound, the seniors are well cared for.
More important, it ignores the realities facing our health care system. Research warns us that Alberta has far too few homes like Little Bow. We care barely keep up with today's demand, and we know with certainty that tomorrow's will be greater. We need to invest in our seniors' health care facilities, not close them. Please, talk to your MLA and Health Minister Fred Horne.
TELL THEM, WE NEED A LONG-TERM PLAN FOR LONG TERM CARE.
