Nurses to hold information walk Wednesday at Chinook Regional Hospital

Members of United Nurses of Alberta Local 120 will hold an information walk in front of the Chinook Regional Hospital in Lethbridge tomorrow.

The walk is being held to raise public awareness of the impact of nurse layoffs planned and implemented by Alberta Health Services on patient care in the province’s hospitals.

Many participating nurses will be wearing white to demonstrate their pride in their profession and their support for their patients and their families.

The information walk will take place from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 11, 2013, in front of the Chinook Regional Hospital, 960 – 19 Street S., Lethbridge. Participants in the walk will assemble at 10:45 a.m. at the intersection of 10 Avenue S. and 19 Street S.

Members of UNA Local 38 also announced to local media yesterday that they are planning to hold an information walk on Main Street in Wainwright on Monday, Sept. 23.

That walk, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., will start from the Post Office green space at Main Street and Fourth Avenue and will proceed along Main Street. Beef on a bun will be served while supplies last.

Other walks related to the same issue are planned by UNA locals at various locations throughout Alberta and will be announced to media and the public as they are scheduled to take place.
