Letter of Understanding #18

The benefit changes listed in Letter of Understanding #18 RE: Prepaid Benefits are effective on the first day of the month following 90 days from the date of ratification – this would be August 1, 2025.
 
These include changes to coverage for massage therapy and diabetic supplies.
 
As part of the new Provincial Collective Agreement, AHS, Recovery Alberta, Primary Care Alberta and Covenant Health have agreed to a 90-day open period for enrolment for employees who have previously opted to not enrol in the benefit program.
 
Most employers are still confirming their process and timelines for the open period. UNA will share more information when the union receives it.
 

Covenant Health

Covenant Health enrolment opportunity for non-participating UNA members: Alberta Blue Cross Group Benefits
 
Benefit eligible employees not participating in the Supplementary Health and Dental benefit plans due to alternate group coverage are provided with this one-time opportunity to opt in.
 
Enrolment will include Supplementary Health, Dental, Emergency Travel, and Vision benefits. Employees opting in during their LOA will not have their enrolment processed until their full return to work (hours and duties).
 
Enrolment Period: April 21 – May 16, 2025
Payroll Deduction Start Date: Pay Period 12 (Payday: June 11, 2025)
 
To enrol, you must complete the Benefits Change Request form and return it to HR Shared Services no later than May 16th. Benefit enrollment and applicable premiums will be effective June 1, 2025.
