Agreement reached on essential services, staffing plans submitted to LRB for review

Following direction from the Presidents of the Locals involved in negotiations for a new Provincial Collective Agreement, United Nurses of Alberta’s Negotiations Committee has completed Essential Services Agreements (ESA) with Alberta Health Services and Covenant Health.

The staffing plans have been agreed upon by the union and employers and have been submitted to the Alberta Labour Relations Board (LRB) for review.

The ESA for Covenant Health is scheduled to be reviewed by the LRB Essential Services Commissioner on December 12. The AHS ESA will be reviewed on December 20.

UNA will be notified of the Commissioner's decision and direction following the review.

Concluding the ESA process is the next step required in order to begin formal mediation with the employers for a new Provincial Collective Agreement.
