Alberta nurses to gather for UNA AGM from October 22-24
United Nurses of Alberta's Annual General Meeting is being held on October 22, 23 and 24 in Edmonton. Including delegates, observers, staff, and representatives of other unions and organizations, about 1,000 people are expected to attend the event at the Edmonton Convention Centre.
In addition to the normal business of the AGM and elections for President, Second Vice President and representatives of all regional districts, delegates will hear from a number of speakers, including keynote speaker Dr. Jim Stanford.
Dr. Stanford is one of Canada’s best known economic commentators and currently works as the Director of the Centre for Future Work. He served for over 20 years as Economist and Director of Policy with Unifor (formerly the Canadian Auto Workers).
Attendees will also hear from Canadian Federation of Nurses Unions President Linda Silas and a panel discussion about privatization in health care, education and other public services.
UNA members will be joining other unions and supporters to Rally for Respect at the Alberta Legislature from 11:30 am to 12:30 pm on Thursday, October 24. Media are invited to attend the rally.
