UNA responds to NPAAU withdrawing application from Labour Relations Board
United Nurses of Alberta has learned that the Nurse Practitioner Association of Alberta Union (NPAAU) has withdrawn its two applications to the Labour Relations Board to become the bargaining agent for Nurse Practitioners employed by Alberta Health Services and Covenant Health. UNA is surprised that in its press release the NPAAU blamed UNA for the decision to withdraw its application. At LRB hearings last month, UNA’s representatives raised serious and legitimate concerns with the content of NPAAU’s application and the process it used to collect NP signatures. The LRB agreed to hold further hearings in response to UNA’s concerns. UNA is committed to NPs receiving the best representation in the workplace possible, regardless of who they choose as their bargaining agent. NPs are invited to participate in an online discussion about their representation and next steps. UNA representatives will be available to answer any questions NPs have and we plan to invite representatives of the NPAAU to participate. Please register in advance for the UNA Nurse Practitioner Town Hall on Thursday, July 29, 2021 at 7:00 p.m.
