UNA joins civil society groups to mark first anniversary of COVID-19 pandemic

Nearly 2000 flowers were placed outside the Federal Building in Edmonton today in remembrance of all the Albertans who have died from COVID-19 since March 11, 2020. The flowers were a visual representation of the lives lost to COVID-19, especially those of Alberta’s seniors who have been disproportionately affected

UNA President Heather Smith joined representatives of the Friends of Medicare, Public Interest Alberta, the Seniors Action Liason Team, and Alberta Arts Action to mark the one year anniversary of the declaration of COVID-19 as a global pandemic by the World Health Organization, and acknowledge the toll taken on nurses and health care workers.
